Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteer Opportunities are abundant at the Coffee Creek Watershed Preserve. Throughout the year Ranger Steve conducts water quality monitoring, bird monitoring, educational tours and exotic species control work days. Help maintain and improve the ecological health of the preserve by sharing your time and talent at the Coffee Creek Watershed Preserve.

Brief Description of Events |

Bird Monitoring |
Participants will learn to identify different bird species throughout the Preserve by sight and sound while enjoying an unhurried, one mile hike. |

Flower Hike |
Hikers will learn about different plant and flower species and the role they perform in the Preserve during this leisurely one mile trek. |

Garlic/Mustard Control |
Learn about undesirable vegetation and how to manage its growth in the Preserve and your own backyard. |

Invasive Species Control |
Plant species will be identified and counted for future data comparison. This data will be very important for future tracking of the health of the Preserve. |

Creek Water Monitoring |
One to characterize the water quality of Coffee Creek and to track any changes as development within the area occurs. Once taken, water quality samples are analyzed for a variety of physical, biological and chemical parameters, such as temperature, oxygen level, pH level, conductivity and presence of pathogens and nutrients. Participants may enter the creek to collect samples. |

Frog Hike |
Hikers will learn about different reptiles and amphibians and the role they perform in the Preserve during this leisurely walk. |

Would you like to spend more time playing around in the creek, measuring stream flow and habitat quality, trying out the new chemical testing kits, and practicing your macroinvertebrate identification - and being able to ask for help?
